STOURBRIDGE PRIMARY CENTER
|
OCEES began working with the Stourbridge Primary Center (Stourbridge), located in Honesdale, PA in 2010. During both the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years, the following on-campus woodland ecology and gardening programs were provided for Stourbridge students: "Wildlife Track and Sign" (Kindergarten), "Life Under a Log" (1st grade), and a "Seed to Salad Gardening and Composting Project" (2nd grade). A "Bluebirds in the Schoolyard" program (2nd grade) was added in the spring of 2012. All of these programs are the outcome of a "Schoolyard Habitat Evaluation" provided by OCEES for Stourbridge and all are taking place on school grounds.
Paula M. Brennan, Principal, Stourbridge Primary Center: " John provides outstanding learning experiences for our students. By using their own natural curiosity and excitement for learning in a hands-on, experiential setting, he brings our science curriculum to life. His depth of knowledge and ability to communicate it on the children's level, meticulous attention to detail and planning, and enthusiasm for the outdoors and dedication to sharing it with others is a winning combination for any school program." |
Below you'll find slide presentations of the aforementioned Wildlife Track and Sign , Life Under a Log, and Gardening programs implemented at the Stourbridge Primary Center (a slideshow of Stourbridge's new Bluebird Nest Box program will be posted in the near future). The presentations should download automatically, although they may take a minute to appear, depending on the speed of your internet connection. For best viewing, click "Fullscreen" at the top of the viewing window of each presentation and then use the scroll bar on the right of your computer screen to scroll through the slides. Following the slide presentations are corresponding PA Academic Standards charts for the programs.
